OMG!  You have to go check this out!  Two artists gained permission from JKR and Warner Bros. to use HP trademark images and recreated props to create a Diagon Alley in one of their homes!  It's fantastic!  And....It's near enough (Elkins Park, PA) that I can go see it!!  The purpose is to raise $$ for charity.  Check out the website--YOU WILL BE AMAZED!   The viewing event is scheduled for two days over Halloween--Oct 31st and Nov 1st.

GO LOOK!!!!!!!

OK!  I'm new to vids due to just moving from dial-up, and I'm now firmly ___________ (insert phrase of your choice... "addicted to" "obsessed with " "enamored of" "fixated over") Merlin, so it only follows that I must rec.

This vid uses footage from episodes 1-7 so I'm assuming it's older and might have spammed the fandom in the past, but if you haven't seen it....  Oh holy crap, it's fun!

Please watch this!  It's good for you.  ...like chocolate.  XD

I just finished a commissioned doll for the fabulous [info]ghot

and promised her a photo-log of the creation process.  It's not always pretty, folks!  :P   She's posting a photo-journal on the portrait she's doing of my son.  Go take a look, it's as fab as she is!

She asked for a short-haired Remus--full kit.  *snicker*  I made him some travel pants for modesty's sake.

I just finished this "Funky Luna" dress robe.  I'll be offering it for sale at Azkatraz, but if I still have it by Ball night, I'll wear it!  I think it came out pretty cool.

Feel free to pass this on if you know someone looking for a last minute costume.  It's in the 10 to 12 range in size.

Oh!  And I have a fabulous Lucius coat for sale too.  Same size range.  (I didn't make this one--had it in my theater stock.)

Just finished up a Moaning Myrtle robe and realized I have enough fabric to make another one-- medium to large.  I'll post around, but if anyone knows anyone...  *bats lashes*

Email me if you want pics--I don't want to broadcast before Azkaban and spoil the effect for the one who commissioned the 1st one.  *g*             kissmacabre AT gmail DOT com

Hola, flist!  A 'fly by' post to self pimp that I have a window of time to squeeze in a few more costume commisions before Azkatraz.  If you know anyone interested, feel free to point me out! *g*  I do custom--whatever you want.  (within reason, of course!)

Off to sew...

An August 'Hogsmeade Witches Weekend' event is being planned to check out the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry's premiere Harry Potter exhibit.  Details are over at the [info]zibit_con_09  com.  It's somewhat informal but sounds like fun.

Please share this info as you will!

More chances to dress up and play!  Yay!

Gah!  I'm popping in to tell everyone I'll be out of fandom for a few more weeks.  The show I'm costuming is kicking my butt and I'm incommunicado to all intents and purposes.  Tell me again why I do this? o.O

I'll reconnect with everyone soon.  I'm taking pics so maybe I'll post a few.  Show opens March 13th.  I'm not sure whether to say "The end is in sight" or "The end is near!"  lol!

ttfn.....

Oh yeah...  The show is "A Man For All Seasons" in case you want to know.  Henry VIII and all that...

I decided to make a line of HP Mer-people dolls and just finished Mer!Lupin.  I don't normally squee over my own creations but I really adore this guy!  He came out so open in his expression--a warm personality but still private.  Ok...maybe I'm reading a bit too much into this? o.0  Anyway...here he is in all his wolfy splendor.  For you Snupiners I posed him with Snape in a few shots.  They look so nice together!

Note:  This is a bit of a self-pimp.  I make custom dolls along with my costumes so I'm open to commisions--any character.  (I can make them with legs btw--I just don't like to make the tiny clothes!)

Oh...and I think there may be a doll tea-party being formed for Azkatraz.  I'll let you know if I can get more details.

Yikes!  One more thing...These guys are anatomically correct in the man-bits department.  I'll include a pic but last time I got busted.  We'll have to see...  *crosses fingers*

Has anyone else notice the snarky similarities between Snape and Squidward (Sponge Bob Square Pants)?

Also...

Sponge Bob = Clueless!Harry
Patrick = Sidekick!Ron
Sandy = Hermione
Mr. Crab = Manipulative!Dumbledore

Or maybe not...

Here’s my submission (finally!) for  [info]alienor77310 in the  [info]snapedom  Summer Exchange Fest. I chose to create a doll since costumes and dolls are what I do--my OTP!   This project was a joy, I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. I'd love to know what you think...

Artist:  [info]spidermoth
Rating:
PG-13
Disclaimer:
Snape is not mine.

Warnings: general man-bits

Author's notes: I had been intending to make a Snape mer-man, so was thrilled that one of the artses Alienor gave as a prompt was just that!  Go here to see her wonderful art!  It was fate—I’m sure of it! *g*

I took liberties with the hair. My merpeople all have long hair—the mermaids, down to their tails. (…the flipper ones, you naughty things!)

Here’s my little swish and flick… He’s about 12” overall height

More pics.... )

Back view. I like the way the cheeks turned out.

Detail of the dark mark, which was my big disappointment. I’d made an arm where the mark came out perfect(!), but the arm itself was too long. When I shortened it, the mark smeared and I had to start over. The 2nd try wasn’t as nice. Oh, well…

Naughty bits…yummm!

Gah!  I'm not a winter person.  My motivation-bone is seriously affected by cold and dark.  I have this HUGE list of things I need to be working on and I don't want to do any of them!  Oh well.  Guess I'll have to be mature.  Wah!

Went to see The Odd Couple at our local Black Box theater.  I've costumed for some of the players in other productions--only helped out on 2 pieces for this show.  It was good.  You gotta love Neil Simon--he so gets the snarky interplay of friends.  It's a funny show.

We have so many projects at home that DH and I don't know where to start, or on what 1st.  Our furniture has gone kaputz and the carpet is toast.  That means we have to paint the interior as well.  ("Why do you have to paint the interior as well"  you ask?  Umm...because it needs it?  Not really all that connected, is it?  ha!)  Many $$'s are required for all of these projects.  Hmmm...let's see.  We have "x" dollars.  Each of about 5 projects costs "x" dollars.  That means we need "5x" dollars.  Ok...I'm good at math.  I see a PROBLEM!  lol!  We need some help here!  "Brother, can you spare a dime?"  Maybe that's my motivation problem, eh?

I'm watching the Austin series on Masterpiece Theater.  I've read P&P, S&S, and Persuasion.  I've been in the middle of Emma for about a year.  I love Austin, but I just keep getting stuck a couple of chapters in on this one.  I think the ditz factor throws me off.  I may move on to Mansfield Park.  I've seen two movie productions of this story and I really like it.  Plus, Fanny is supposed to have been Austin's favorite protagonist.  Most of the series running now on Masterpiece is new.  I think their supposed to run the Colin Firth P&P though.  Yum!  Can never see that too often.  I have a friend watching too.  (She actually got me to watch.)  Its great to have someone to chat with over the shows.

Well...I'd better be off to finish up our roast chicken dinner.  DH does the bird and I do the sides.  We used the Brautoff roaster--wanted to see how that worked.  Its clay, in case you're not familiar.  Usually keeps things really moist.  I made the requisite sauerkraut like the good little german I am.  Ruebens on Monday, you gotta know!

We're supposed to play some board games after dinner if we can decide amongst our particular selves which ones to play!

Wish you could be here!

Thought I'd post a ramble on what I've been up to.  Not much, really.  Have a sniffly cold right now so I'm slow-movin'.
I've been cleaning up my diet to weed back out all the sugary treats we binge on over the holidays.  Sugar is my boogaboo for health.  I don't miss it once I'm off but man its hard to give up those homemade iced sugar cookies!

Got called last minute on The Odd Couple at Black Box.  They just needed black suits for Oscar and Felix.  It opens this weekend.  Might go down and meet a few friends this Sat.  First time I've been down there since they re-modeled--its nice.  Fewer seats but they got that blasted pole out of the line of site! and put in a few strategic doors so patrons don't have to traipse past the dumpster on the way in.  Gah!  Ran into a friend who does a lot of graphic art for theatrical programs and such.  He's willing to do up a few ideas for a logo for Magic Needle.  I just want something simple with interesting text.

Listened to a fab new CD today. One of my favorite guitarists, Ry Cooder.  This release is Cuban music, kinda the folk/traditional/roots of... stuff he usually gets into.  He's paired up with Manuel Galban.  I'd never heard of him but I definitely endorse now!  You have to hear this.  I can't even begin to describe it.  "Mambo Sinuendo" is the title.  Gotta check with my latino friends for the translation.  (well, I could look it up--I'm not inept!  But its more fun to check with friend who is teaching herself Spanish.  It helps her feel accomplished)

Family is supposed to head up north to visit sister who is insanely living in upstate NY where its COLD!  We'll most likely ski since they actually have snow that comes from the sky.  I'm pants at skiing but get the exercise of lugging my ass and skis all over the place.  Something about sports where it takes you as long to gear up as it does to do the activity is just not me.

I've been working on my astrology.  Got my birth chart done--too interesting.  Its a lot to learn but fun.  I'm working on Tarot too, but not very energetically.  Might want to get back to it soon to see if we should take said trip (see above.)

Trying to walk 20+ minutes a day.  Have been touring the neighborhood.  Felt sorry for the dogs--leaving them behind, so now take them and try not to trip over the dingbats.  What is it about dogs that they have to be right under your feet?  This is not just my experience--ask any dog owner.  Lucky stops at EVERY mailbox.  He gives me that look every time I yank his butt to come on.  Hey!  I'm tryin' to do AEROBICS here!

Have errands to do soon.  I'm not motivated to leave our cozy nest with the temps in the 20's.  I really HATE cold.  Give me a good, humid, sweltering day anytime.  I mean I COULD DIE OUT THERE! when its freezing.  I'm one of those people who has a SURVIVAL KIT in my car from Oct thru March.

Well...I could ramble on some more but that's about the gist of my activities.  Hey...I'm hibernating, OK?  I'll be more interesting when it warms up!

ttfn...

Just uploaded a few userpics--that was fun.   I'm not sure what the protocol is for using art and pics found on open archives.  I'm assuming if they're available, they're OK to use.  Please, if anyone has advice on this feel free to hop in.
